Local Post Office Closing

The Poplar Ridge Post Office has been an integral part of our business. The small size along with the convenient location made it a pleasure to do business there. I could walk or bike there in good weather. The mail pick-up truck seemed to take my packages right from the post office to the sorting facility to the airport with packages arriving at their destinations in customer-pleasing time. The postal service has threatened to close the office for years. Already it was reduced to just half days. And now the post office will close on January 6, 2012 and the Hazard Library will be able to take over the whole historic brick building. Our Poplar Ridge boxes are being moved to Aurora so the nostalgia and the zip code will live on. It requires some reconfiguring of my daily routine and probably it will add a day to my shipping times.
