Quilts to Clothes to Collectibles

The summer is flying! The Flax clothing supply is radically abundant at this point. I'm listing it as fast as I can at www.shopdinosaurdrygoods.com but you can certainly stop in and rummage in the incoming bins to get first dibs. You do need to call first to make sure I am here or to make an appointment. I've taken on extra duties at the local ambulance but luckily the station is just around the corner and I can usually run home quickly to accommodate shoppers. And the quilt squares in the picture? Those are sweet miniatures from the 1800s that a quilt expert pulled out of my quilt-piece-drawer yesterday. She was shopping for Flax but took a break to give me a fantastic short lecture on old fabrics and quilt designs. Yes, I do sell the quilt pieces. It's a treasure trove! Quilters in town for Quilting-by-the-Lake? You would have a ball here.

Finally A Flea! The Grain Bin Market

We couldn't be more thrilled that a big, bold vintage market is starting up in Tompkins County! We have missed the Found Flea which went on hiatus during Covid. I think you'll see most of the usual vendors at this excellent location on the fairgrounds in T-burg. There will be plentiful parking and indoor and outdoor vendors. Dinosaur Dry Goods will be there with a huge assortment of Flax, vintage clothing and accessories, collectibles, ephemera...whatever we can fit in the fan!

Mid-Winter Update

Just imagine the little folks who played and danced in these shoes!

We are up to the usual here at DDG: sorting, steaming, sifting, listing, selling. The studio shop in Poplar Ridge is open by appointment or chance for the winter. I'm here more often than not, so do reach out if you'd like to stop in. Clothes are listed on eBay, Etsy, Poshmark and shopdinosaurdrygoods.com. Etsy and eBay get the other stuff: art, collectibles, jewelry, etc. You can't appreciate the variety until you've visited in person. We hear there is a flea market starting up again in the Ithaca area in May. You bet we will be there!

Finally Jacket Weather!

I've been waiting to throw on some layers! Linen is perfect for starting the day with multiple pieces and then shedding some when (if) it warms up in the afternoon. All DDG venues are well-stocked with Flax, Blue Fish, Cynthia Ashby, Match Point, La Fixsun and more. Flax generally lists in the Etsy shop and on www.shopdinosaurdrygoods.com. Blue Fish, Cynthia Ashby, Match Point and La Fixsun are usually on eBay. Poshmark is potluck :-) Check them all out. And don't forget, you can always come to Poplar Ridge to shop in person at the studio-store. Just contact me for an appointment.

So Many Vintage Clothes

What am I doing with so many pieces of vintage clothing these days? They are coming out of the Moravia home that I am emptying out for friends. The 100s of boxes of textiles contain anything from curtains to feed sack to cute calico to barkcloth to sparkly tulle to vintage clothing from all decades. Most every piece of clothing is flawed in some respect. Some things I can mend, some things I can't. Most pieces are unique and fascinating. That is why they were collected in the first place. Many have a chunk taken out at the hem, as they were collected mainly for their intriguing fabric or trim value. Luckily, I like to mend. Unfortunately, I am not a great stain-removal wizard, but I give it my best shot. You are welcome to come over and sift through the collection yourself. Be in touch. It's May now and we had better be done with this project in the next month or so. Or just enjoy what I have listed on the website, Etsy and eBay.

DDG at the City Market on Mother's Day

You'll find me at one of my happy places tomorrow - Mother's Day - at the Everson Museum
The City Market takes place outside on the plaza, but as a bonus, be sure to go inside the museum, too.

I'll have Flax, vintage clothes and accessories and vintage linens. This is the first market we've done since 2019! Should be a beautiful day for it.
