While You're in Town

Read the article in The Citizen about the MacKenzie Childs Barn Sale 2018 and see more enticing photos by Kevin Rivoli, award-winning photojournalist.

If you are going to be in the area for the MacKenzie-Childs Barn Sale this weekend, and you need a break from the crowds, stop in at Dinosaur Dry Goods in King Ferry. We'll be open on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, we are at the Found Flea in Ithaca. We have a large selection of gently-used Flax clothing and other boutique brands and a quirky and jumbled assemblage of collectibles.

Some May Wonder: Part One

Some may wonder what goes on in that space in King Ferry with the big windows that are crowded with curiosities, but is seldom open. I'm going to attempt to feature a different area of concentration each week so that you can get an idea of what is available. This first week will feature vintage linens. They are a major weakness of mine. Large, long-forgotten collections are always finding their way to me and I can't turn them down. I sort, I soak, I sun, I press. Many primo pieces...tablecloths, napkins, tea towels, sheets, pillowcases, handkerchiefs, coverlets...make it to my booth at Found in Ithaca. Some are listed in my Etsy shop. Suitcases-full are carted to the Found Flea. Many, many are sorted and stored at the shop in King Ferry for their turn to be featured. Some are fine collectibles and some are adorable and serviceable, but less than perfect. If you are still using paper tissues, paper towels, paper napkins, you need to enter the world of re-usables! You are doing laundry, anyways...right? I almost forgot to mention...with summer coming, you will sleep better using old linen tablecloths as top sheets.
