Christmas Pretties

I worked at Found in Ithaca yesterday afternoon and the customers all remarked about the Christmas decorations in the shop. The vendors have really brought it this year. The cast iron planter in the top photo is mine ($275 poinsettias included). It is a beauty. My glass case has lots of lovely gift items for someone who just needs a bit of shiny-pretty vintage. The cartons of blue tear drop bulbs are not in my booth, but I do love them...packaging and all!

Get Your Creepy On - Last Flea of the Season!

With all of this chatter about snow on Sunday, I needed to get revved up for the flea on Sunday so I snapped some quick photos of my potential flea fodder. It is the last Found Flea of the season - Sunday, Oct 18 from 9-3. I will have coats, flannel shirts, and some (but not all) of the funky items in this collage. Caldrons, yes definitely caldrons. Flax, yes. Vintage clothing, probably. Vintage linens, most definitely. You'll just have to show up to see what else makes the cut.

Super Stuff

Some super stuff in my booth at Found in Ithaca right now: a 1940s Edward Koenig Sit-Rite Chair, a curved-glass china cabinet, a petite typewriter table, a jadeite-green kitchen table and a pair of pale pink chairs, a chalkware lion sporting very cool shades (sold separately), a Shaker rocker, a lift-top desk with beveled mirror, wicker chair with barkcloth cushion and a vintage swimsuit.

Since Nora Asked Grilled Tofu

My ad hoc recipe for a hot & sweet grilled tofu:

Press and drain a block of extra firm tofu.
Slice in 1/2 inch slices.

rough proportions:
1/3 olive oil
1/3 Salam Oeblek Chili Paste
1/3 honey

I used probably 1/4 cup each for the sauce and had enough to slather and soak the slices before throwing on the grill and then enough to baste on the grill.

Low heat on the grill. Turn before it sticks, but wait for good dark grill marks. The honey should help give the outside a crunch. Excellent with homemade bread and butter pickles on a big sammie roll.
