A a very cute post from the Ithaca Freecycle list:

they may be yellow jackets. you will have to see for yourself. It is a very active hive in a flowerpot on the side of my house which has another flowerpot which is slightly smaller and upside down sitting in it. There was a hosta in the bottom pot I think.
Anyway, if you are a bee keeper and want them they are yours. If you know a bee keeper who would want them I'd appreciate if you could put he/she and I in touch. I know pollinators are having a hard time of it lately so I hate to just kill them...don't have the equipment (or nerve) to move them myself.
If someone COULD move them but doesn't want them and is feeling generous they could be relocated on my property...just can't have them near the kitchen door!
Thanks,
