Why the Dinosaur?

Folks often ask how we came up with our name and logo. Here is the story. In 1999 we pondered purchasing an existing business that sold used children's clothes. The price of purchasing the whole business was too much, so we decided to start something from scratch. I always wanted some sort of "dry goods" store so we started with that part of the name. We chose "Dinosaur" because it sounded good with "Dry Goods" and because dinosaurs are old but still loved. I had the idea for the logo of a dinosaur with a clothesline from neck to tail and I worked long-distance with a designer who was always faxing the most wonderful creative doodles. I asked her if she could doodle me a dinosaur. She said she was too busy, but there it was (as above) on the fax machine the next morning.

I loved it...except for the scary face. So the next morning, on the fax machine was this selection of faces to choose from. I owe Jodi a huge thanks for this logo even though we've long stopped selling kids' clothes, we can't seem to leave the fun logo behind.
